Hi,I,m Anne,I am a new Etsian as well.It is very difficult to access customers on etsy when new.Iam using the show cases when I can. However the first time I didnt sell a thing.Ihave spoken to Etsians from other countries and the market is very slow with the recession,at the moment.Lets hpoe things pick up before Christmas! I am trying to improve my marketing strategy to improve sales.I have also been approached by a new online gallery who wish to sell some of my work.I am also working on setting up my own website,silverpuss.com. This is in the very early stages and probably will take me and my web designer months to get it right. We have to do a lot of networking to get customers into our online shops.P.S.this is my first ever blog so accept my apologies for the geekiness!!!all the best,Anne at silverpuss.

what works for you?
Hi again-
As a new Etsian I was hoping to hear how other members of Team Cymru draw potential customers to their shop. I have used the showcase tool once before and it directed lots of people to my shop for that day but the flow soon tailed off. Do you guys use the showcase on a regular basis or use personal blogs etc to direct people to your shops?
Any thoughts welcome!
Ta!

hello there!
Hi there-
I just thought I'd write and introduce myself. I am 29 and live in Cardiff. I have always been involved in art. Its mainly been from a personal satisfaction stance but I have recently joined etsy in a bid to share some of my art with the world!
I have dabbled in various media starting from pencil and pen and ink to painting and japanese sumi-e ink painting. My recent activity has been scherenschitte or papercutting. This is what I sell in my etsy shop. I love the simplicity of this media and the challege of creating atmosphere and depth with such a restrictive practise.
I also do a little sewing, knitting etc and have recently made my first quilt which was super hard but very satisfying in the end!
I'm excited to be part of a welsh etsy community as most of my friends don't craft/create at all and I'd love to have any thoughts and feedback on my work, I am always looking to improve!
I have added some of my stuff to the flickr group and my etsy shop is www.samaki.etsy.com
Looking forward to meeting more of you on this blog.

pippibean ~ introducing myself!
I still haven't gotten around to introducing myself, so here goes...
Hi! Well, pippibean is my constantly developing hobby! I joined etsy maybe a year ago, and what I make reflects what interests I have at the time ^-^. I’ll try my hand at making anything, from tote bags to tiaras. I only have time to add a tiny collection of things to my etsy shop, though - the majority of my items are sold in a local gift shop!
I'm obviously really interested in Kawaii designs & love the quirkiness of it, but all sorts of other styles influence me too. I love discovering new things, and learning new techniques!
A few things I love are - bright colours, cuteness, gingham & floral print fabrics, japanse design, music, smiling, bracelets, buttons, the thrill of somebody buying something you've made, turning old things into new things, learning new things, 'Sugar' brand boots, wrapping presents, Cadbury Flakes, pasta, and other tasty foods, TKMAXX, independent gift shops, languages, doodling, and books.

Bank holiday
Hi there everyone! Is there anyone else like me that spends the bank holiday finishing off a dress so that it can be delivered over the weekend?
It doesn't feel like August does it with the torrential rain and thunder and lightening we had today?
Keep your fingers crossed for Saturday as there will be 4 bridesmaid dresses and a flowergirl dress that I made for a wedding in BurryPort.
I loved doing the flower girl dress and between orders I'm going to make some and sell on Etsy.

just to say hi
Hi Everyone
I am new to all this and this is my very first attempt at blogging (is that the right word). I live and work in the beautiful Gower peninsula where I run a B&B with hubby John. To be honest he does most of the work while I play with my beads. www.welshbeader.etsy.com I am up so early as today I am off to the Gower Show and somehow got ropped into judging the showjumping. If anyone around pop into the judges box and say hello. Well thats all for now but thanks for asking me to join your group and hope to chat and exchange ideas etc, etc. Diolch Lynda

Macmillan Comfort Blanket
Macmillan Cancer Care and The Knitter magazine have just launched a nationwide comfort blanket campaign. The aim is to create 100 knitted blankets by October, which will then be distributed to people affected by cancer.
Each blanket comprises 40 20cm x 20cm squares - do you fancy helping me and a friend create a blanket? Or why not attempt a blanket of your own, with help from your friends? Do have a look at the link because there are some beautiful square designs to try.
Good luck!

Hey folks :)
My name is Freya (aka Arianwen) and while I'm new to Etsy, I'm really not new to crafting! Ever since I was little, my Mum encouraged me to craft, paint and draw, and it's something that has definately stuck with me (I'm 22 next month!). I love to make jewellery and work with textiles - when I sat my art A-Level most of my finished pieces were fabric items, be it clothing or soft sculpture. In the real world I'm an Egyptology and Ancient History student at Swansea Uni, and my crafting is done in my free time (when I'm not working at Lush part-time that is!).
So far I have listed jewellery and nipple pasties, but am planning on adding handknits, decorated tees/tops/totes, crocheted bits and artworks :)
You can see my stuffs at Arianwen's Place on Etsy and Folksy, and follow me on my Blog and Twitter.

A Quick Hello
Hello, my name is Cath and I am the owner of the Etsy Store Knitterscarlet which can be found at http://www.knitterscarlet.etsy.com and also the blog http://www.knitterscarlet.blog.co.uk.
I am 34 years old and have been married for 12 years (seems longer lol). Have been trying for a baby since 1997 (usual story, forgot my contraception when we went on honeymoon so decided to start trying for baby). I have had 10 miscarriages in total and have gone through two cycles of IVF with ICSI. Am now waiting to complete further testing before trying our third and final cycle.
I have been knitting since I can remember and back in 1997 had my own webpage through the UK-Buddies Infertility Support Group and had orders for knitted items from as far away as Hong Kong, Belgium, etc etc.
After a while the orders began to dry up so I decided to purchase a knitting machine to make the lace baby shawls knit up a bit quicker and took on work through various knitting designers. I did this up until a couple of years ago when I decided I was fed up of getting paid peanuts to knit the garments and then them selling them for over £200 so decided to set up my own Etsy store.
I don't just knit, I also make delicate beaded jewellery and have now taken up hand-spinning and have a Kromski Symphony Spinning Wheel.
My dream is to purchase fleeces from farmers, hand wash and hand sort them, then hand-dye them in gorgeous colours and finally spin and knit them up into yummy garments. This is going to be really fun and exciting to do and now just need to find the time to practice my spinning as it is very "designer" at the moment (posh name for thick and thin yarn lol).
I haven't had many sale in my Etsy store and am at present working on an order for a lady in Israel who has purchased a cardigan from me through Etsy and now wants more.
It is really interesting reading about everyone's work and looking through your Etsy stores.
I will be going upto Cockermouth to Woolfest at the end of the month, is anyone else going???
That is about all for now, don't want to bore you too much.
Love
Cath

Thanks for the Welcome!
Hi All - just to say thank you for inviting me to join. However - it has taken me about a week to get to grips with trying to post anything on this blog - but finally managed it!
Just before I go off to school - thankfully only part time now - I thought I'd try to post something. I have recently put some stuff on etsy to sell - but I cannot say that I am an avid seller. I did well in the beginning, and I still think its a great venue - but I also realise that u have to spend ages promoting ur stuff - and I don't have the time, expertise or inclination at the moment!
I did attend a sale at Manchester last year which was informative and fairly lucrative, but it made me realise that I am making the wrong sort of stuff.
For the majority of sale goers - small, cheap and funky seems to be the way to go - and corsets are not any of those things!! So i am about to try to sell off my stuff cheaply and start from scratch.
Watch this space!
When I next sit down I will try to look through every contributors stuff - interesting exercise to see if my theory is right.
I am looking forward to doing more stuff - when I get the time to myself to get things on the correct track for selling. I expect u all have realised far sooner than myself that making to sell is a lot different from making things that u like ur self and do for the enjoyment factor - or are u all very successful - in which case I take it all back!

Mail Chimp Marketing for Etsians
Hi! PinkieKinch here.
I've been away for a few days in the Cotswolds and West Sussex seeing friends and family. We had a really lovely time and our little dog Jacob was very patient, even in the HOT weather. We got back yesterday afternoon and he took to our bed from then on. I think he was a little shaken with all the motor way traveling in our little red postman pat van ( Vauxhall Agilia). Anyway, i've just been having a little tinker and on the tinternet and found a very interesting article from MailChimp regarding linking up your Etsy account to a Mail List through Mail Chimp. It sounds excellent. Have a go and let us know how you get on.

HollieLollie
Hello everyone..I'ts HollieLollie
I am a mother of a gorgeous little girl and boy living in Bridgend. I am a trained teacher and have taught in primary schools for many years...recently 'retiring' ; ) to spend more quality time with Sam and Hollie(Lollie).
I have always loved anything to do with art, design and craft but with the arrival of my two little monkeys have had very little spare time to divulge in anything creative.
.....but the time has come for my youngest to start school part time and although the house is far toooooooo quiet and I feel as if I have a missing limb!!!! I have suddenly found time and rediscovered how much I love and enjoy designing and creating.
I have thoroughly enjoyed setti
ng up my shop HollieLollie in Etsy and am thrilled to have been included in a treasury...fingers crossed for a front page one day! ; )
I am soooooooo excited to be a part of team Wales and am looking forward to getting to know everyone

jombolom
Hello everyone!
My name's Sara, and my shop is called jombolom.
I've been obsessed with paper for as long as I can remember, so it was perhaps inevitable that I would end up making cards one day! The materials that I use are sourced from all over the world - washi paper from Japan, watercolour paper from Italy, stamps from the USA, embellishments from Asia - and I'm constantly trying out ideas for new ranges of cards. Each card is one-of-a-kind, so you can be guaranteed a unique item - though it does make listing rather difficult!
I've also been working with some other Etsians - particularly those who carve custom stamps - and I'm always willing to consider other collaborations.
Anyway, feel free to have a browse around my shop - I hope you see something that you like.

Craft in the Bay (in Cardiff Bay) organises a regular programme of diverse craft workshops. I haven't attended any myself, but looking at the forthcoming workshops, I am tempted...

Well, since PinkieKinch has taken the plunge, I guess I should be brave and introduce myself too.
I'm Chloe and I make weird things.
I've had an Etsy shop since January 2009 and I'm rather enjoying it.
I enjoy crocheting, sewing, embroidery, drawing, gardening and PC games. Total geek? Yep.
The EtsyCymru team is buzzing with ideas, it's good to be part of a relatively local and extremely friendly team. I can't wait to see what happens next!

PinkieKinch & Praise Art
Hello Etsians and fellow crafters!
I'm Joanna and a happy member of Team Cymru.
I have lived away from my Welsh motherland for 15 years perhaps, but i've been back now for three years and am crafting with a gusto.
My two great passions are beading and printing, oh as well as my husband and my little dog. So that's more than two passions! As well as this I love interior design and would really love to do more with my garden.
I have a beading site on Etsy! Yeah for Etsy, as well as Folksy. PinkieKinch is my beading pen name. As well as this, I run a printing business KinchPrint, this is where Praise Art comes in, it's my specialist range of handprinted inspirational wares. So as you can imagine things can get a little complicated around here, that all adds to the fun though.
Since being on Etsy, I've met some lovely people and I'm sure they'll be joining us here on Team Cymru. I am really looking forward to seeing how out little Team develops.
